The Mosquito and the Lion
Once the Mosquito flew up to the lion and said, "I am not at all afraid of you. I do not even think you are much stronger than I am. What are you really capable of? You claw and you bite and it's not a big deal. And I'm much better than you. If you don't believe me, let's do it." With that, the mosquito slowly crept into the lion's nostrils. The lion felt itchy, and made haste to scratch it with his claws, but no matter how much he scratched, even if it bled, it could not hurt the mosquito. Triumphant at his victory, the Mosquito went on a rampage, singing figuratively triumphantly. Before long, however, the mosquito landed in the web, where a spider caught it and ate it. After defeating the queen of beasts, the mosquito ended up as food for an unsuspecting animal.
The price paid for pride is often very painful. We should guard against arrogance and impetuosity, modest and enterprising, only in this way to become the real strong.
